Fire Red & Chicago Hardy
Latin Name: Schizachyrium Scoparium
Standing Ovation reaches 3-4 feet tall at 18 inches wide. The common name is “Little Blue Stem” and the variety is “Standing Ovation”. Standing Ovation comes in a pretty purple color with nice fire red color for fall. It is natural to the area and will hold up well to Chicago winters. Good for erosion control and the environment, it requires little from your house’s water resources.
The Standing Ovation begins to flower as we come into August and fall. One of the main reasons we recommend it for our clients is because it is hardy, deer resistant, and can handle drought well.
Hardiness Zone: Standing Ovation grows in Hardiness Zones 3-9
Plant Type: Standing Ovation is a flowering plant and color changing leaves
Sun Preference: Standing Ovation thrives in full sun with limited watering
