CHALLENGES
1. Increase readability and visibility of subdivision sign.
2.
Find plant material that could handle very poor soil conditions,
lots of shade and salt spray during the winter.
SOLUTION
One of our specialty services is sign design and installation. This subdivision sign and surrounding plantings needed a face lift. The old subdivision sign was difficult to read for several reasons. The lettering was small for the speed of traffic passing by and the trees above kept the sign in the shade. Also, the lighting needed to be rethought to provide more consistent and elegant illumination. The brick monuments were demolished and a lighter buff colored natural stone slab became the pallet for the lettering which stands out amidst the shade of the trees. The existing trees were pruned and thinned out for increased visibility, better shape and sunlight exposure. The size and font of the lettering on the signs were carefully selected to match the subdivision and for simplicity. Plants near the sign and plants farther out were carefully chosen to include seasons of interest, flowering and their ability to stand out to those passing by in vehicles traveling at high speeds. The amount of lighting used to showcase the monuments was upgraded and the lighting behind the trees increased depth and balance.

Due to an unseasonably warm March, the plants, turf, and especially the weeds got an early start. Because of this, we started mowing the first week of April, which is typically not started until the third week. The demand to keep up with the mowing caused us to get behind on spring clean-up services and weeding of beds. Please bear with us as we catch up on items that normally we do not need to address until May. We appreciate your patience during this extremely busy spring and highly unusual weather conditions. We thank you for your business.
